Unique Wisconsin Wedding Venues
April 15th, 2025
Being a Wisconsin wedding photographer while also being in the process of planning my 2026 wedding, I feel like I have some extra eyes on great spots in Wisconsin to get married at! If you’re in the beginning process of trying to find a lovely venue for you and your fiance, you’re in the right place. I have 12 unique wedding venues in Wisconsin that range from European inspired villas to lake side gems to intimate outdoor gardens; there’s truly a spot in here for everyone looking to get married in Wisconsin!
1. Mineral Point Historical Society
We’re going to start off with a few venues that are more advertised as ‘historical societies’ in Wisconsin, but will allow you to host your wedding. First up we have the Mineral Point Historical Society in Mineral Point which is about an hour south west of Madison! The Mineral Point Historical Society offers a truly enchanting setting for a wedding, blending timeless elegance with rich local history. Centered around the stunning Orchard Lawn estate, with its stately 1868 Italianate mansion and beautifully landscaped grounds, the venue provides a romantic backdrop for ceremonies and receptions! You can get married within century-old trees, celebrate on the expansive lawn, and enjoy the charm of a little estate with your closest people (not to mention an absolutely amazing price for a wedding venue!).
Guest Capacity — 200
Rate — $1,900 for 2 hours for rehearsal on Thursday/Friday and up to 14 hours on-site for day of ceremony & reception
2. Wauwatosa Historical Society
Next up on my list is a place I had the opportunity to tour and have to say, photos don’t do this home justice! Located in a cozy neighborhood west of Milwaukee in Wauwatosa, the Kneeland-Walker House (aka Wauwatosa Historical Society) offers a romantic and historically rich setting for weddings. Built in 1890, this Queen Anne-style mansion features ornate woodwork, vintage tapestries, and a winding staircase, providing a charming backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. Couples can exchange vows in the lush Victorian gardens, adorned with flowering quince, climbing roses, and hollyhocks, or celebrate indoors among the home's elegant interiors. The venue includes amenities like bride and groom getting ready rooms, tables and chairs, and a prep kitchen. With both indoor and outdoor spaces, the Kneeland-Walker House couldn’t be more perfect for couples looking to host a cozy, backyard wedding with the elegant charm of the home.
Guest Capacity — 60 outside / 40 inside
Rate — $225/hour for the rental of the grounds and first floor of the home

We’ll take a little detour and check out some more sophisticated, elegant and charming venues within Wisconsin that might have gone under your radar! First up we have The Commodore. Nestled on the serene shores of Nagawicka Lake in Hartland, Wisconsin, The Commodore offers a picturesque and elegant setting for weddings. This historic venue, originally opened in 1905 as Hasslinger’s Pleasant View Hotel & Resort, has been thoughtfully reimagined to blend timeless charm with modern sophistication. This is one of the newest venues on my list and am so excited we have a spot like this in Wisconsin.

4. The Paine Arts Center & Gardens
Up next is a venue that I almost couldn’t believe was in Oshkosh, let alone Wisconsin! The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a European-style mansion and botanical garden located in Oshkosh, a little over an hour drive from Milwaukee. It’s such a stunning & unique wedding venue because with just a short walk, you feel like you transported to different venues; they have a Carriage House, an English-inspired Mansion, botanical gardens, a conservatory, lush foliage, and so much charm. As a Wisconsin wedding photographer, it’s a dream of mine to photograph a wedding here someday!

5. Woman’s Club of Wisconsin
The Woman’s Club of Wisconsin is another one of those venues where the photos online don’t do this space justice. I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding here in 2024 & it was breathtaking (read about my Wisconsin Bride feature at The Woman’s Club!). Located in downtown Milwaukee, the venue offers an elegant and historic setting for weddings and features a Grand Ballroom with vaulted ceilings & crystal chandeliers, providing a sophisticated backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. Couples can utilize the entire clubhouse, allowing for seamless transitions between ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner.

6. Villa Bellezza
One more elegant and European-inspired wedding venue on my list bringing us all the way to Pepin! The Villa Bellezza will truly transport you to a romantic Italian destination without leaving Wisconsin. The Villa Bellezza offers a captivating setting for weddings, blending Tuscan-inspired architecture with the natural beauty of the Midwest. Couples can exchange vows in the Roman columned outdoor pavilion, surrounded by lush vineyards that evoke the charm of an Italian countryside. The central piazza, complete with a fountain, provides a picturesque backdrop for cocktail hours and receptions, allowing guests to savor award-winning wines in an ambiance reminiscent of a European village.

If you’re more of an outdoor lover, the last six venue choices I have listed will be a treat. Up first is one that we actually considered for our wedding venue, the Sanger House Gardens! I had the opportunity to shoot one of my favorite weddings here in 2024 (read about it here & see more of the space!) and will always mention that it’s one of Milwaukee’s most hidden gem wedding venues. While the website is a bit dated, I promise the property speaks for itself while visiting the gardens!

8. Hotel Washington
This was another wedding venue that we had on our list for possible spaces for our wedding day- if food & cozy hosting is an important part of your day, I definitely have the perfect venue! Located on a cozy island near Door County called Washington Island, Hotel Washington offers an idyllic setting for intimate weddings. This is such a dream of a wedding venue with having their catering done by their farm to table restaurant & bakery, taking the cutest ferry over to the island, as well as a charming lodging experience for your guests all in one making for a memorable wedding day for you and all of your guests!

9. Selmer and Stone
The newest venue on my list (their first weddings are in the spring of 2025!), we have Selmer and Stone nestled in the countryside of Fort Atkinson. Surrounded by fields of tall grass and wildflowers, this venue blends modern touches with a chic barn feel, creating a timeless ambiance reminiscent of a tranquil European countryside. Although Wisconsin is full of barn wedding venues, Selmer and Stone offers that extra oomph with their modern design choices that’ll transport you to a destination wedding all while keeping a Wisconsin feel.

Camp Elsewhere is cozied up in Waupaca, just shy of 2 hours from Milwaukee. The camp offers a secluded and enchanting setting for couples seeking a nature-inspired wedding experience. They have about 50 acres of private woodlands, many serene lakes, and features a charming cedar chapel overlooking the water. If you’re looking for a venue on a lake, can accommodate your guests (up to 40 overnight!), and want a cozy, intimate outdoor wedding, this is the perfect spot. I had previously reached out to the owner to see if they host weddings & he confirmed that they do! Truly such a dream to get married on a secluded island in Northern Wisconsin right on the lake.
